Electricity production is the leading cause of industrial air pollution in the United States. Pixels & Press is taking action to offset our company’s energy consumption, by purchasing renewable energy credits, from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF). This is a major step forward in our efforts to utilize renewable energy. By partnering with Pixels & Press our clients are helping to offset their own business’s impact. All of the electricity at our offices comes from wind power. With the purchase of our REC’s we have also been able to offset all of our outside infrastructure. We have also joined forces with the city by becoming a member of the Climate Wise Program. This program is designed to assist local businesses in contributing to the lifestyle of renewable energy.
Assiduous participation in community efforts is a sensible approach to solving our planet’s energy challenges, and Pixels & Press is proud to be part of this effort. Our goal is to give back to the environment exactly what our energy usage takes out of it.
Renewable Energy Credit
A REC represents one megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable electricity generated and delivered somewhere on the power grid. Each MWh of clean renewable electricity results in one less MWh of non-renewable power. The REC’s purchased by Pixels & Press are produced from 100% wind power. In essence, an REC represents the environmental benefits of replacing dirty power with clean power.
Not every business has access to green energy options, and if you find yourself in that category, renewable energy credits, or RECs, are the way to go. Pixels & Press uses resources from various vendors both local and out of state. In order to ensure that we are doing our part in trying to offset the carbon footprint generated by our involvement, we decided that REC’s are currently one our best options.

Bonneville Environmental Foundation
The Bonneville Environmental Foundation, a non-profit organization, sells
carbon offsets as renewable energy certificates, which it calls Green
Tags, to replace traditional polluting sources of electricity with clean,
secure, and sustainable renewable sources of energy that come from solar
and wind power from across North America.
When you buy Green Tags, your purchase supports the development of:

- Watershed restoration to improve water quality and native fish habitat

Bonneville Environmental Foundation
Each Green Tag represents the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that
occurs when clean renewable energy replaces polluting energy sources. One
Green Tag represents enough renewable energy to offset a typical home for
a month with clean wind and solar power, and is equal to:
- 1,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy onto North America's power grids
- 1,500 miles of offsetting emissions from a standard car
